Sharing the Love of Jesus for the WIN!!!

Sports are a universal "love language," transcending barriers to unite people from all walks of life. Regardless of background, race, religion, gender, socio-economic status, ability, or profession, Sports undeniably bring individuals together, bonded by a shared passion for the game or a favorite team.  This unique power to connect, inspire, and unite is what makes Sports a truly universal force. 

For any single game played, there are 2 teams whose followers can clearly be identified by the team’s colors, paraphernalia, and/or team items (i.e. horns, hats, towels). Fans, some of which choose to be called fanatic, display an array of emotions to include but not limited to, cheering, yelling, dancing, waving, tailgating, and raising hands. 

Being a fan and/or supporter of a team is not limited to outside circumstances or by chance once a person arrives to the game. For the most part, fans arrive to the games already knowing which team they are cheering for and which team they are not. The seating area of stadiums/arenas are typically divided into different levels, suites, and seats where fans of the same team typically, but not always, sit on the same side. However, with limitations placed on seating assignments, ticket allotments and other factors, fans for the home team and the visiting team can end up sitting in the same area near each other, or next to one another cheering their team on emphatically with passion. 

And then, something magical happens. Fans become one sharing hugs, laughter, high fives, fist bumps, and moments of joy or disappointment. For a few hours, differences and barriers are set aside and/or fade away, and a sense of community and oneness emerges. 

THIS IS THE POWER OF SPORTS—AND it mirrors the unity we are called to as Believers in Christ.

Just as fans cheer for their team, each Believer must decide which "team" they are on, God or the world. Our reach as Believers is not limited to a church or worship building, as we have been commanded and receive our charge from the Great Commission to "Go Out".  At every place, every interaction, every conversation, we have a unique opportunity to reflect God’s love and invite others to join His team, the WINNING TEAM.

At Angel Grace Sports Outreach, we will use the unique environment that Sports provide to connect with people where they are, offer encouragement, share the Gospel, extend the Gift of Salvation, and build relationships that point to Jesus.
